Founded in 1985 by Board Chair Hon. John V. Lindsay, Executive Producer Bernard Gersten and Director Gregory Mosher, and led for 33 years by André Bishop, LCT is one of the leading nonprofit theaters in the country, producing an annual season of plays and musicals that have been seen by millions around the globe. It is one of 11 autonomous constituents of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Each year, the three theaters that make up LCT welcome nearly 300,000 audience members to its home on the Lincoln Center campus.

Position Summary

The Manager of Individual Giving at Lincoln Center Theater leads three donor programs– the Patron Program, the LCT Angels, and a new friends-level program, encompassing annual donations $25,000 and below. This position also supports and strengthens other individual giving initiatives as part of a highly professional, fast-paced 15-member Development Department with growing revenue goals. This position reports to the Director of Development and supervises the full-time Development Associate, Individual Giving and part-time Patron Room Assistant.


Responsibilities:

Program Management:

  • Raise approximately $1.8M in contributed revenue across individual giving streams, with expectations for annual growth.
  • Manage the LCT Patron Program (gifts $2,000-25,000) consisting of approximately 480 households, including overseeing and executing on solicitation strategy and calendar, digital and direct appeals, impact communication, cultivation events, and benefit fulfillment.
  • Manage and oversee the LCT Angels – a program for donors 40 and younger. Oversee the next evolution of the program, including establishing a new leadership/committee structure.
  • Manage the launch of a new donor program for gifts ranging from $250-$1,000 in tandem with the Marketing team’s reimagined Membership program. Strategize messaging for launch, ongoing life of the program, and benefit redemption.
  • Craft special appeals, proposals, and acknowledgment letters.
  • Develop printed and digital brochures and materials for individual giving programs.

Portfolio Management:

  • Manage a personal portfolio of current and prospective donors.
  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospects, working closely with LCT Board Members.
  • Build relationships with donors and provide a high level of customer service.

Strategy and Administration:

  • Prepare reports on Individual Giving for Board and other meetings.
  • Draft expense budgets and revenue projections.
  • Work closely with the Development Operations team to ensure accurate data entry and tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, particularly Marketing and Box Office, to ensure aligned messaging, transparent communication, and smooth project management.

Events:

  • Manage the Patron Room, including liaising with caterers and coordinating with the box office and operations teams.
  • Work closely with Special Events team to plan and oversee donor events including dinners, cocktail receptions, behind the scenes and other cultivation events.
  • Participate in broader Development events throughout the year as needed.

Team Management:

  • Supervise Development Associate, Individual Giving.
  • Supervise Patron Room Assistant.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BA degree and 4-6 years of experience in individual and/or broad-based fundraising.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit performing arts organization is a strong plus with theater experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with ability to craft compelling appeals and materials
  • Must be service- and team-oriented, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of Tessitura strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends is required.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, temporary, exempt, and salaried position with a salary range of $90,000-$100,000. Lincoln Center Theater provides comprehensive benefits including Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance and Paid Time Off.
