BREAKDOWN

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

SEEKING:
[SEYMOUR KRELBORN] He/Him, 25-35, Any Race or Ethnicity. An insecure, put-upon, meek florist's clerk with a secret love for his co-worker. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who makes bad choices in his pursuit of love and success. From the script: “He is not a silly, pratfalling nerd, and therefore should not be played as the hero of a Jerry Lewis film.” Vocal range: Top G4-Bottom A2.

[AUDREY] She/Her, 25-40, Any Race or Ethnicity. An insecure, put-upon, meek floral arranger with a secret love for her co-worker. She is a genuine, well-meaning woman who makes bad choices with men due to her low self-esteem and a society that defines her by her looks. From the script: “If you took (list of starlets), removed their education and feelings of self-worth, dressed them in spiked heels and a low-cut black dress, and then shook them up in a test tube to extract what's sweetest and most vulnerable-that'd be Au-drey.” Vocal range: Top D5-Bottom G#3

[ORIN SCRIVELLO] He/Him, 30s-40s, Any Race or Ethnicity. From the script: “A tall, dark, handsome dentist with a black leather jacket and sadistic tendencies. He is not, however, a leftover from the movie version of Grease. Think instead of an egotistical pretty-boy- all got up like a greaser but thinking like an insurance salesman and talking like a radio announcer. (Doubles as Wino #2, Customer, Radio Announcer, Mr. Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip, and Patrick Martin.)” Vocal range: Top G4-Bottom G2.

[VOICE OF AUDREY II] She/Her, 20s-50s, Any Race or Ethnicity. An actor/vocalist located offstage. From the script: “Think of The Voice as that of a street-smart, funky, conniving villain - Rhythm and Blues' answer to Richard the Third.” Vocal range: Top G4-Bottom G2, though may be transposed for a higher register.
