One Shakespeare monologues (or two contrasting, one in verse) 3 minutes total. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

Breakdown

HAMLET

SEEKING:

Hamlet (CAST. Seeking possible replacements) – Male presenting, 20s to early 30s. The Prince of Denmark. Grieving the loss of his father and distraught by his mother’s quick remarriage to his uncle, he is burdened with the task of revenge after learning his father was murdered.

Claudius (CAST. Seeking possible replacements) – Male presenting, late 40s to 60s. The new King of Denmark, uncle to Hamlet, and husband to Gertrude. He ascended to the throne through murder.

Polonius (CAST. Seeking possible replacements) – Male presenting, late 40s to 60s. A friend and confidant to the royal family and father to Ophelia and Laertes. He is very verbose.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

HORATIO – 20s–30s, any gender. Hamlet’s closest friend.

ROSENCRANTZ – 20s–30s, any gender. Former friend of Hamlet’s from Wittenberg.

GUILDENSTERN – 20s–30s, any gender. Former friend of Hamlet’s from Wittenberg.

GERTRUDE – 40s–60s, female presenting. Queen of Denmark and married to her brother-in-law.

GHOST – 40s–60s, male presenting. Ghost of Hamlet’s father and the former King of Denmark.

LAERTES – 20s–30s, male presenting. Brother to Ophelia.

FORTINBRAS – 20s–30s any gender. Prince of Norway.

OPHELIA – 20s–30s, female presenting. Polonius’s daughter. In love with Hamlet.

ENSEMBLE – Will double in roles including Player King, Player Queen, Osric, Gravediggers, Marcellus, Bernardo, Francisco, etc.
