Free Sex is a bold, contemporary satire that imagines the fictional events following the aftermath of the real-life criminal trials of Atlanta rapper, Young Thug, and his defense attorney, Brian Steel– in what would become the longest trial in Georgia state history. By blending witty humor and elements of Southern Gothic sensibility, this play examines race within the judicial system, artistic capitalization, and the profitability of queerness. Resulting in a daring work of Black American theatre that interrogates the price of creativity in a culture hungry for profit.
