Facilities Manager Playwrights Downtown

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Facilities Manager to manage and maintain the Playwrights Downtown facility and coordinate the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the Playwrights Downtown spaces, which consists of two floors. This position will be the first one in the space and will support the administrative staff and studio associates in creating a comfortable, warm, and clean space for all guests. The Facilities Manager is a full-time non-exempt position, and works in person 5 days a week from Monday through Friday 7am -3pm, night and weekend work may be required on occasion. The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized, can self manage and has excellent communication skills.


Responsibilities:

-Comprehensive facilities support for Playwrights Downtown staff and programs
- Facilitating and organizing room set ups and coordinating equipment movement
- Updating procedures and develop best practices for equipment use, shared inventory, and facility operations focused policies
- HVAC -Conduct daily monitoring, troubleshooting, providing optimization of building management systems for energy efficiency, and coordinating contractors.
- Responding to and managing all maintenance requests
- Overseeing janitorial, carting,other routine and preventative maintenance activities
- Managing facilities-related relationships with suppliers, vendors and contractors
- Conducting routine site, security and safety inspections
- Facilitating security protocols and providing support when needed
- Maintaining compliance with city, state and federal laws related to facility operations
- Proactively addressing facility issues before they become problems
- Managing the facility operations budget and tracking expenses
- Managing facilities supply and equipment inventory and procurement
- Coordinating activities and related logistics with the base building superintendent
-Maintaining and managing the building activities and maintenance calendar
-Assisting with setup and breakdown of Downtown internal events
- Working 1 day every other week at our Uptown location assisting the Building Manager; providing facilities support and vacation coverage at Uptown location on occasion
- Work collaboratively with Playwrights Uptown’s Building Manager
- Provide coverage for the Uptown Building Manager on vacation
- Occasional facilities repairs and maintenance work at the scene shop in Queens
- Work collaboratively with Technical Coordinator, liaising on needs or repairs in the rehearsal studios or theaters downtown
- Work collaboratively with the Administrative Director and Operations Coordinator in the daily operations of the rehearsal studios




Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5-7 years working in a facilities department or in facilities management (not exclusively facilities management)
- Ability to manage the physical requirements of the position including: regularly required to lift 50 lbs., able to work in seated or standing, push or pull, able to work in low positions, able to walk up and down stairs, and to climb ladders
- Experience with hands-on servicing of basic and daily use of plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations include staff, undergraduate student, renter other visitor populations
- Basic carpentry skills a plus
- Understanding of New York City building and FDNY codes
- Understanding of theater operations and equipment is preferred
- Experience working in an educational or cultural institution a plus
- Proficiency in Spanish a plus
- Ability to pass a background check is required
- Strong ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Night and weekend hours required
- Highly motivated self starter


Salary:

$60,000-$70,000 per year, commensurate with experience
