Treasure Trunk Theatre is seeking creative and enthusiastic Costume Design and Set Design Interns to join our team for our exciting full-scale production of Annie Jr., a children’s musical production designed for young performers ages 6-12. This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging designers interested in children’s theatre to gain hands-on experience and bring their artistic skills to a joyful, collaborative environment.

Position: Costume Design Intern
Responsibilities:

- Work with the director to develop a child-friendly, budget-conscious costume design for Annie Jr., capturing the charm and time period of the show.
- Source, adapt, or create costumes for a young cast (ages 6-12), ensuring designs are comfortable and safe for movement.
- Assist with fittings, costume alterations, and any necessary repairs during rehearsals and performances.
- Maintain and organize costumes and costume pieces throughout the production process.

Ideal Candidate:

- Background in Costume Design, Fashion Design, Theatre Arts, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and adaptability.
- Passion for children’s theatre, and comfortable working with young performers.
- Sewing skills preferred, though not required.


Position: Set Design Intern
Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the director to create a simple, creative set design that reflects the world of Annie Jr. and enhances the storytelling in a safe, accessible way.
- Assist with set construction, painting, and decoration, ensuring all pieces are secure and child-friendly.
- Coordinate with the costume and production teams to ensure cohesive visual elements.
- Help with set maintenance and small adjustments during rehearsals and performances.

Ideal Candidate:

- Background in Set Design, Theatre Arts, or a related field.
- Comfortable with basic set construction and design principles.
- Creative problem-solver with a passion for designing engaging, interactive spaces.
- Experience in children’s theatre or a similar setting is preferred.

Details for Both Positions:

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Brooklyn Heights & Park Slope)
Schedule: Availability from Feb 1st - June 1st, 2025 for production meetings, fittings, etc. Must have availability for dress rehearsals: May 18th, 19th, 29th, 30th in the afternoons. Performances are May 30th and 31st, 2025
Compensation: Internship Stipend and academic credit available upon request.
