Role: Community Engagement and Access Coordinator

Status: Full Time/Benefits Eligible/Exempt

Reports to: Director of Education

POSITION OVERVIEW

Two River Theater is seeking a Full-Time Community Engagement and Access Coordinator to join our Education team. Working hours are generally Monday-Friday, 10AM-6PM. Availability is needed on weeknights and/or weekends for presence at internal and/or external events. This is a flexible, hybrid position.

The Community Engagement and Access Coordinator reports to the Director of Education and is responsible for coordinating TRT’s growing community engagement strategy and facilitating Access offerings for Two River Theater, on stage and off. They will take the lead in managing partnerships with nonprofit organizations across sectors, local and state-wide businesses and community leaders, and work to ensure that a wide scope of communities are aware of, feel a part of, feel welcomed at, and are empowered to access Two River Theater’s facility and activities. The ideal candidate is a good listener who is passionate about the priorities for various communities and a deep belief that the power of art can enrich our lived experience. They are creative thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills; value non-transactional, organic relationship-building; and are knowledgeable and/or passionate about the performing arts. They enjoy networking, attending events, and being involved in a thriving cultural community.

The Community Engagement and Access Coordinator will communicate directly with community partners and organizations, access providers, as well as all departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Work:
    1. Design, cultivate and implement a comprehensive and inclusive strategy to build bridges between Two River Theater and underrepresented communities, and include integration with:
      • Season productions and presenting productions
      • Education programs
      • Access programs
      • Donor events and campaigns
      • Institutional marketing events
    2. In collaboration with Community Relations Manager, cultivate and develop partnerships with community organizations
    • Deepen relationships with current partner organizations
  1. Assess different community priorities to identify potential partners
  2. Develop new, meaningful collaborations with artists, organizations, and neighborhood groups.

  1. Access Work:
    1. Contract with reputable Access providers to provide services for audio description, ASL-interpreted, open caption, sensory inclusive and Play Date performances/events;
    2. Cultivate relationships/partnerships with local and regional access communities to expand and deepen participation and use of Access offerings
    3. Research and provide training for above events/performances for Front of House, Box Office, Marketing, Education, Production and other departments, as needed
    4. Every three years, spearhead and execute the creation of the Two River ADA Plan and provide to New Jersey state organizations as needed
    5. Serve as point person for patron inquiries regarding Access resources
    6. Serve as Two River’s Access liaison to the New Jersey Theatre Alliance/Cultural Access Network

Perform all work in a manner that is consistent with Two River’s core values, including our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA), and contribute to the goal of creating a more equitable, diverse and inclusive organization by participating in various staff and organizational initiatives;
  3. Additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience in facilitation, community organizing, or cultural programming
  2. Previous experience building and sustaining community partnerships and programs
  3. Previous experience working for nonprofits, preferably in the arts/culture sector
  4. Strong project management and communication skills
  5. A commitment to fostering equitable and inclusive communities
  • Comfortable with MSOffice suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a wide network of contacts at potential partner organizations in Monmouth and the surrounding counties
  2. Proficiency in Spanish

Annual Compensation: $45,000 - $50,000. Benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, generous paid time off, an employee assistance program, local business discounts, and a 403 (b) retirement plan.
