Job Title: Box Office Head Treasurer

Position Type: Full-time

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 /annually, plus benefits

Reports To: General Manager, or consultant acting on behalf of NG Astor LLC

About the Astor Place Theatre

The Astor Place Theatre is a historic Off-Broadway venue in the heart of Greenwich Village. No Guarantees Productions, through NG Astor LLC, is excited to be building a dedicated team to transform the Astor Place Theatre into a dynamic cultural hub for a variety of new and innovative theatrical productions. We are revitalizing the theatre to host a new generation of productions while honoring the venue’s legacy, and looking for professionals to help us create a welcoming and memorable experience for our guests, artists, and staff.

Position Overview

The Box Office Treasurer will lead all box office operations for the Astor Place Theatre. This position is responsible for all ticketing sales, financial reporting, and the overall management of the box office. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a passion for live theatre and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work independently while supervising others.

Key Responsibilities
Box Office Management:

  • Oversee all daily box office operations, including ticket sales, house seats, group sales, lottery/rush, inventory management (seat holds/releases, allocations, etc.), pricing, show builds/extensions, discount code offers, and customer inquiries.
  • Manage all cash, credit card, and check transactions.
  • Reconcile daily and weekly sales, and prepare financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate sales records and customer data.
  • Manage the theatre’s primary ticketing system, plus any approved distribution partner relationships and platforms.
  • Schedule, manage, and oversee the performance of, at minimum, one additional full-time box office staff member.
  • Ensure compliance with all theatre policies and procedures.

Guest Service:

  • Provide exceptional customer service both at the ticket window and behind the scenes to all guests and show partners.
  • Handle all guest and show partner ticketing and seating complaints and/or inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Process ticket exchanges and refunds per theatre policy, and respond to chargeback inquiries.
  • Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for all guests and show partners.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports for management.
  • Reconcile all financial reports with the theatre’s accounting representatives.
  • Manage petty cash and other financial accounts.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of new ticketing policies and procedures.
  • Handle the ordering of necessary tools/equipment (e.g. paper, ticket stock, etc.), and be the liaison for box office-related IT or ticketing system issues.
  • Collaborate with production teams on their marketing and show promotion plans.
  • Perform other administrative duties as needed, including at times, letting authorized individuals or vendors into the theatre when facilities or operations personnel are not on duty.

Supervisory Duties:

· Lead, develop, and support direct reports through regular coaching, constructive feedback, and guidance on professional growth.

· Address performance concerns promptly and fairly, while fostering a positive and accountable work environment.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Position will require work outside of normal business hours to accommodate the demands of a theatrical venue, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Additional duties as needed or directed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a box office or similar role.
  • Strong financial skills, including experience with cash handling, financial reporting, and accounting.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with ticketing software (preferably Ticketmaster).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience managing a small team.
  • Knowledge of the New York City theatre scene is a plus.
