DESCRIPTION

Standard Hours Worked: Coverage at concerts and events at Miller Theatre, approximately 8 to 12 hours per month. This is an in-person role that requires evening and weekend event coverage.
Overtime: Yes, after 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities
The House Manager oversees Front of House Operations for concerts and events produced by Miller Theatre, the performing arts venue at Columbia University, dedicated to producing and presenting unique events in contemporary and early music, jazz, and opera. Works closely with Miller Theatre’s Audience Services Manager and Production team to coordinate the timely start and orderly operation of public events, oversee student usher staff of 5-8 per performance, and implement theater operating policy while maintaining high standards of customer service.

January 27 – late afternoon / evening
February 5 – evening
February 14 – evening
February 17 – late afternoon / evening
March 3 – late afternoon / evening
March 7 – evening
March 31 – late afternoon / evening

*Additional dates will be added as campus events are confirmed

Special Demands
Must be able to comfortably carry front-of-house equipment weighing up to 25 pounds (including but not limited to boxes of concert programs, stanchions, folding tables, folding chairs, and signage) from the street-level lobby and across a flight of stairs to the orchestra and balcony levels. Must be able to remain in a standing position and move about in the theater lobby, auditorium, backstage areas, green room, etc.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required, as is one to two years of related professional experience. Strong customer service customer service skills with a high level of energy and initiative. The ability to positively interact with a highly diverse group of constituents, including audiences, artists, students, faculty, and staff.

SALARY

$24.00 – $24.00 per hour
