DESCRIPTION

the cell is a small non profit theatre operating in the heart of Chelsea, dedicated to the development of new work. We are located in a historic light-filled townhouse that has served as a creative hub for artists for 20 years. We’re seeking an additional staff member to support our active residency and production schedule. The ideal candidate is familiar with developmental theatre and has a background in arts administration. Some of the responsibilities include scheduling, bookkeeping, facilities oversight, house management and box office.

Roles & Responsibilities


  • Organize and navigate administrative files

  • Set up meetings and timelines

  • Manage calendar for residencies, rentals and productions

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with resident artists, administrators, vendors, donors and customers

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of a four story theatre venue including printing, setting up for rehearsals and maintaining stock of supplies

  • Take on box office responsibilities

  • Schedule and assist with house management

  • Light bookkeeping


Experience & Skills


  • Familiarity with the artistic development process

  • Experience working with theatre artists, performing artists, dancers, musicians, interactive media artists, etc.

  • Proficiency with Google Drive

  • Familiarity with Quickbooks Online, or eagerness to learn

  • Familiarity with Ticket Tailor, or eagerness to learn

  • Efficiency with space management

  • Courteousness and consideration

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time while staying focused in a fast-pace environment

  • Communicating kindly, clearly and effectively

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during rehearsal and performance periods.

  • 3 to 5 years experience in Production Management or Arts Administration


Compensation and Benefits

  • $1500/month for flexible, part time paid training in July & August

  • $3750/month September - December

  • Paid holiday breaks

  • Opportunity to continue into 2027
