DESCRIPTION

Amas Musical Theatre, one of New York’s leading not-for-profit theatres devoted to the creation, development and professional production of new musicals, the celebration of cultural equity and minority perspectives, the emergence of new artistic talent, and the training and encouragement of young people, is seeking a part-time enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and dependable Administrative Associate to join the Amas family of artists, producers, arts administrators, and teaching artists.

This role requires someone with a passion for the theatrical arts, who has a collaborative demeanor and a shared sense of optimism and creativity, as well as the ability to multi-task and work quickly and efficiently.

The Administrative Associate will support and work directly with the Artistic Producer and Development/Outreach Director. The ideal candidate will have detailed-oriented organizational skills, be an excellent communicator with strong writing and verbal skills, proficiency in computer application skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, and knowledge of social media platforms. Previous office experience is required. This is not an entry-level position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Office Operations/Staff Management – Answer phones and maintain office resources, organize office procedures; maintain correspondence with patrons, run errands, create and maintain organization calendars for staff and events, oversee office maintenance and cleanliness, accept and maintain list of (and, periodically, reading and evaluating) new musical submissions from musical theatre writers, and coordinate and supervise part-time staff and interns.

Studio Management – Maintain a roster of part-time studio managers; secure bookings via Peerspace, phone, or email; maintain booking calendars and payment sheet; schedule studio staff via Sling; oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the studio; ensure that studio rules are followed.

Production Support – Assist with Amas Musical Theatre and Academy productions, including facilitating communication among production staff, printing of scripts and music, maintaining reservation lists, and occasional house management.

Event Planning/Coordination – Assist with fundraising events, including managing volunteers and staff, and serving as on-site coordinator.

Marketing/Communications –Social media management and content, interface with Amas webmaster and other suppliers, print pieces, and distribution of posters and flyers.

This is a part-time position, basically Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.

SALARY
Hourly position at 20 hours/week. Pays $20-$23 per week commensurate with experience.
