DESCRIPTION

As the Music Director for our spring production of Jasper in Deadland, this person will facilitate rehearsals in the first month and a half of the semester, they will then work with actors one-on-one as we block the show to perfect their technique and performance quality. And as we get closer to opening night, they will host intermittent rehearsals to refine the musical prowess of the ensemble. They will work closely with cast members to learn the vocal score, practice harmonies, and prepare them for performance. This person will also give notes during tech and dress rehearsals, and collaborate closely with the artistic director to ensure all musical needs are met. The musical quality of the production is the Music Director’s sole responsibility. They will also conduct the ensemble and operate the backtrack software during the production to make sure all cues are met.

As an Adjunct Instructor of Theatre, this person will teach up to two 4-credit courses throughout the semester. This person will prepare syllabi, course materials, learning activities, and homework assignments for their students. They will work closely with other faculty to ensure their course is integrated into the theatre program’s collaborative environment by supporting production with class-based assignments. They will also uphold academic rigor and integrity within their courses.
