DESCRIPTION

Seeking Equity* and Non-Union actors for the roles of ARNOLD and KITTY in Goodnight, Mrs. Calabash, written and directed by India Marin Stachyra at Theater for the New City (155 1st Ave, New York, NY 10003), running eight performances May 28 - June 7.

SYNOPSIS:

Former actress Kitty Ralph has lived most of her 73-year-old life in the shadows of her long-gone Hollywood starlet mother and bigshot producer father. One night, Arnold, an NYU graduate film student and pupil of Kitty's famous director ex-husband, knocks on her door unannounced, forcing her to confront her true desires in what may be the last few months of her life.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

KITTY RALPH, W, late 60s-early 70s, Any ethnicity

Former actress and only daughter of golden age Hollywood star Stella DeWinters and successful movie producer Richard Ralph. Once married to renowned director and current NYU film professor George David, with a 37-year-old daughter, Jennifer.

A Lauren Bacall-in-the-Dakota type. Grounded, witty, occasionally seductive–a woman who's been through it, but who still exudes a certain alluring quality.

ARNOLD PRESTON, M, 20s-early 30s, Any ethnicity

26-year-old cinephile and aspiring film historian. NYU graduate student under famed director George David.
Quite innocent and aloof compared to Kitty. Relatively inexperienced and always curious about the world. He's passionate and intelligent–a good listener and student.

$850 honorarium per actor. *Equity Showcase Code pending approval.
