Zanna, Don't!, a pop musical fairy tale about Zanna, a fashionably hip androgynous teen with super powers, gets a full Off-Broadway production Oct. 8-Nov. 3, presented by Amas Musical Theatre in association with Jack M. Dalgleish and Stephanie Joel.

The new musical by lyricist-librettist-composer Tim Acito had public readings in Manhattan in February and June and in Yale Cabaret Theatre. The work will debut at the Rodney Kirk Theatre on Theatre Row on West 42nd Street. Additional book and lyrics are by Alexander Dinelaris. Opening night is Oct. 17.

The show, whose full title is Zanna, Don't! A Musical Fairy Tale, is set in magical high school where relationships are reversed — the universe is gay instead of straight (two same-sex relationships are the center of the show). Despite the title and the description of the plot, the goals are to be sincere and touching, and not campy, according to a spokesman. The score delights in a pop music sound.

Devanand Janki directs and choreographs. The company includes Adam Kaokept, Anika Larson, Darius Nichols, Amanda Ryan Paige, Robb Sapp, Shelley Thomas, Gregory Treco and Jared Zeus.

Edward G. Robinson is musical supervisor; he and Seyi wrote the show's arrangements and orchestrations. Vocal arrangements are by Acito. Production designers are Wade Laboissonniere and Tobin Ost. Carlos Garcia is sound designer, Jeffrey Lowney is lighting designer. Acito is a graduate of University of California at Berkeley. He received an MFA at Yale in spring 2002. His musical, The Sungatherers, premiered at Yale in May 2002.

Performances are 8 PM Tuesdays-Saturdays, 3 PM Saturdays-Sundays. Tickets are $18-$25. The Rodney Kirk Theatre is at 410 W. 42nd Street. For ticket information, call (212) 279-4200.
