With Broadway’s biggest night approaching, have you started preparing for your Tony Awards viewing party? Don’t worry—Broadway’s new musical comedy The Prom is here to help you with all your fete-throwing needs. From food to décor to commercial break suggestions, here’s what every Broadway fan needs to throw a night no one will ever forget—starting with this special The Prom-created ballot!
If you’re rooting for…
Mean Girls: Think Pink! Mix a big batch of "On Wednesdays, We Drink Pink" (Cosmopolitans), cook up some Kalteen Bars (use Rice Krispies), throw pink glitter, and craft a “Burn Book” of Tony predictions. It's another chance to dress up as "who you want to be and hot" instead of waiting for Halloween to come around!
SpongeBob SquarePants, The Broadway Musical: Spend your night in Bikini Bottom! Go under the sea with blue and green balloons, a pineapple piñata, Sponge-Kabob refreshments, and starfish and seaweed hanging from the ceiling. Shake your hula skirts to the cast recording during commercial breaks. It’s not just a simple party!
Frozen: Build an ice palace like Elsa does! Go for white and light blue streamers, silver glitter, paper snowflakes, twinkly lights, and some Frozen margaritas! Trust us, you don’t have to blast the air-conditioning to make your Frozen-themed party cool!
The Band’s Visit: Visit another corner of the world with soft blue and gold hues! Think yellow, taupe, gold, and deep turquoise streamers and scarves. Get cooking, because a Band’s Visit party wouldn’t be complete without a Middle Eastern feast and a big pitcher of Bet Hatikva Mule (shockingly similar to Moscow Mules in everything but the name)!
Once On This Island: Get tropical and colorful! Decorate with a construction paper sun and lots of plants. Wear your best island attire and play the cast recording during your pre-party buffet of fried plantains, fruit salad, rice and jerk chicken, plus a tall glass of Once On This Long Island Iced Tea.
My Fair Lady: Get ready to dance all night! Have a classic party with a dance floor for waltzing, candles all around, your best and biggest hats, and pearls to clutch while you wait for the announcement of the winner of Best Revival of a Musical.
Carousel: Keep the party going round and round with a Carousel theme! Take your Tony party to the lawn with a DIY projector for the telecast, a real nice clambake, and geraniums. Your June is bustin' out all over!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two: Make your Tony party magical! Put on your Hogwarts robes and show your house pride with Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff badges for guests to wear. Put a spell on all of your friends with Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, Chocolate Frogs, Licorice Wands, and Pumpkin Pasties.

If you want to throw a classic, classy home gala, have your guests show up in their best awards show attire, bank the walls with black and gold streamers, scatter gold glitter on the buffet tables, and host a champagne toast. And regardless of theme, everyone should play along with these Prom-themed Tony Award Bingo cards! And don't forget to pick up tickets to The Prom when they go on sale June 7. Previews begin October 23 at the Cort Theatre, and it'll be another party you won't want to miss!
