Off-Broadway News Yiddish Fiddler on the Roof Officially Opens Off-Broadway at Stage 42 February 21 The production directed by Joel Grey from the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene transitions to a commercial run.

After an extended sold-out run at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the recent production of Fiddler on the Roof from the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene moves to Off-Broadway's Stage 42. Performances began February 11 prior to its February 21 official opening.

Directed by Joel Grey, the staging stars Steven Skybell as Tevye, Jennifer Babiak who plays Golde, and Emmy nominee and Broadway veteran Jackie Hoffman as Yente; both reprise their performances in the move uptown after taking on the roles at the Museum last year..

The cast also includes Joanne Borts as Sheyndl, Lisa Fishman as Bobe Tsatyl, Kirk Geritano as Avrom, Samantha Hahn as Beylke, Cameron Johnson as Fyedka, Ben Liebert as Motl Kamzoyl, Stephanie Lynne Mason as Hodl, Evan Mayer as Sasha, Rosie Jo Neddy as Khave, Raquel Nobile as Shprintze, Nick Raynor as Yosl, Bruce Sabath as Leyzer- Volf. Drew Seigla as Perchik, Adam B. Shapiro as Der Rov, Jodi Snyder as Frume-Sore, James Monroe Števko as Mendl, Lauren Jeanne Thomas as Der Fiddler, Bobby Underwood as Der Gradavoy, Mikhl Yashinsky as Nokhum/Mordkhe, and Rachel Zatcoff as Tsaytl.

Rounding out the company are Michael Einav, Abby Goldfarb, John Giesige, Moshe Lobel, Jonathan Quigley, and Kayleen Seidl.

This Fiddler is performed in Yiddish—as are all of the productions from NYTF—and features a translation by Shraga Friedman, first used in a performance in Israel in 1965. The production is accompanied by supertitles in English and Russian.

With musical staging and choreography by Staś Kmieć, Fiddler features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, sound design by Dan Moses Schrier, hair and wig design by Tom Watson, and casting by Jamibeth Margolis.

Fiddler on the Roof was written by Joseph Stein with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, originally directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Harnick and producer/director Harold Prince consulted on the current NYTF production.
