The Turning Musical to Premiere at Los Angeles' Center Theatre Group; 2026-2027 Season Announced

The folk-infused thrill ride set in a secluded wellness retreat in the California wilderness will be directed by Sammi Cannold.

Los Angeles' Center Theatre Group (CTG) has revealed the full slate of productions that will be part of its 2026-2027 season.

CTG will stage 12 plays and musicals at the Mark Taper Forum and Ahmanson Theatre, including a world premiere musical, revivals of classics, and touring productions from New York and the West End. 

The season will begin at the Mark Taper Forum with the world premiere original musical, The Turning, running September 2-October 11. The folk-infused thrill ride set in a secluded wellness retreat in the California wilderness was a 2025 Eugene O’Neill Musical Theatre Conference Selection, and CTG previously staged a workshop of the material. With a book, music, and lyrics by Zack Zadek and directed by and developed with Drama Desk winner  Sammi Cannold, the musical will be presented in association with Benton Whitley of Whitley Theatrical and Mark Lunsford of Decade Arts. 

Other offerings in the season will include Karen Zacarías' Destiny of Desire, the West Coast premiere of Kimberly Belflower’s John Proctor is the Villain, a new production of August Wilson’s Fences, the touring productions of BOOP! and Oh, Mary!the North American premiere of Mischief's Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, and National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s Yiddish language production of Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Joel Grey.
