Terrence McNally’s ballet drama Fire and Air, previously scheduled through February 25 at Off-Broadway’s Classic Stage Company, will now continue performances through March 2. The new play from the four-time Tony-winning playwright celebrated its world-premiere opening February 1.

Fire and Air examines some of the rich history behind Sergei Diaghilev’s internationally renowned Ballet Russes, including Diaghilev’s tempestuous relationship with dancer Vaslav Nijinsky.
Tony-winning Artistic Director John Doyle directs a cast made up of Douglas Hodge as Diaghilev alongside James Cusati-Moyer as dancer Nijinsky, with Marin Mazzie as Misia, John Glover as Dima, Jay Armstrong Johnson as Massine, and Marsha Mason as Dunya.
Fire and Air began performances January 17. The CSC staging features scenic design by Doyle, costumes by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox, sound design by Matt Stine, and hair and make-up by J. Jared Janas.
McNally is a four-time Tony-winning playwright and musical book writer; his works include Anastasia, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Ragtime.
