The full creative team has been revealed for American Repertory Theater's upcoming world premiere musical Gatsby, adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
Not to be confused with the separate musical adaptation currently in previews on Broadway, Gatsby features a score by Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch and Thomas Barlett and a book by Martyna Majok. Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown) is directing.
The musical is set to run May 23-July 21, with opening night set for June 5.
The production will feature music supervision by Kimberly Grigsby (Days of Wine and Roses), music direction by Wiley DeWeese (The Lightning Thief), scenic design by Mimi Lien (The Great Comet), costume design by Sandy Powell (The Young Victoria), lighting design by Alan Edwards (Harry Clark), and sound design by Tony Gayle (My Neighbour Totoro). As previously announced, the production will also feature choreography by Sonya Tayeh.
The musical has been in development since at least 2021, with the Massachusetts run produced by special arrangement with Amanda Ghost and Len Blavatnik for Unigram/Access Entertainment, and Jordan Roth, in association with Robert Fox. Hannah Giannoulis is co-producer.
