International News West End's Les Misérables Welcomes 4 New Leads March 27

The international hit musical continues at the Sondheim Theatre.

Cameron Mackintosh's London production of the international hit musical Les Misérables, which resumed performances at the Sondheim Theatre September 25, 2021, welcomes several new principal performers March 27.

Joining the company are Stewart Clarke (Mandela) as Javert, Lucie Jones (Waitress) as Fantine, Claire Machin (Girls the Musical) as Madame Thénardier, and Harry Chandler as Enjolras.

They join Gerard Carey as Thénardier, Robert Tripolino as Marius, Nathania Ong as Éponine, and Lulu-Mae Pears as Cosette.

Josh Piterman (The Phantom of the Opera), who was scheduled to step into the leading role of Jean Valjean March 27, has delayed his arrival until late April due to an injury. Dean Chisnall has extended his run as Valjean until April 15.

The company is completed by Hazel Baldwin, Brad Barnley, Will Barratt, Cameron Burt, Natalie Chua, Matthew Dale, Matt Dempsey, Bryony Duncan, Louis Emmanuel, Sophie-May Feek, Melad Hamidi, Harry Jack, Christopher Jacobsen, Will Jennings, Benjamin Karran, Yazmin King, Bart Lambert, Sarah Lark, Adam Robert Lewis, Georgie Lovatt, Ellie Ann Lowe, Donald Craig Manuel, Jodie Nolan, Sam Peggs, Jo Stephenson, Phoebe Williams, and Ollie Wray.

This production officially opened January 16, 2020, following previews that began December 18, 2019.

Les Misérables is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It has music by Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, additional material by James Fenton, and an adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.

Directed by James Powell and Laurence Connor, the Cameron Mackintosh production also features orchestrations by Stephen Metcalfe, Christopher Jahnke, and Stephen Brooker with original orchestrations by John Cameron, designs by Matt Kinley (inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo), costumes by Andreane Neofitou and Christine Rowland, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, musical staging by Michael Ashcroft and Geoffrey Garratt, and music supervision by Stephen Brooker and Alfonso Casado Trigo.
