Theatres in London's West End will mark the passing of stage and screen legend Angela Lansbury, who died October 11 at the age of 96. The ceremony is set to take place October 12 at 7:00 PM with lights dimming for two minutes.
"The theatre world is a smaller place tonight after the passing of Dame Angela Lansbury, whose work touched so many generations," shared Co-Chief Executives of the Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre Claire Walker and Hannah Essex in a statement. "She lit up every stage she graced, and her extraordinary talent will be very much missed."

Born in London, Lansbury famously played Mama Rose in the original London production of Gypsy in 1973, a production that later transferred to Broadway as the work's first revival. Though she would spend most of her career working in American films and stage productions, the London-born Lansbury returned to the West End in 2012 to reprise her Tony-winning Broadway performance in Blithe Spirit, earning her first Olivier in the process.
