Benanti joins a cast that will include Jonny Lee Miller ("Trainspotting," the short-lived TV series "Smith"), James Saito ("The Thomas Crown Affair") and Loretta Devine (Dreamgirls, "Grey's Anatomy," "Waiting to Exhale"). In "Eli Stone," Benanti will play a single mother and former flame of Miller's title character, a lawyer who discovers he may be a prophet. Benanti's character Beth finds herself asking for his help to sue the insurance company that refused to cover an experimental treatment for her autistic child.
Before her current turn in The Wedding Singer, Benanti was seen on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning revival of Nine. She earned Tony nominations for her roles in Swing! and the revival of Into the Woods. Other credits include The Sound of Music, Time and Again and Wonderful Town (at City Center Encores!). The young actress has been seen on television in the FX series "Starved," in the film "Take the Lead" and the upcoming "East Broadway."
Touchstone Television and Berlanti Television collaborate on the project.
