Video Watch: Sarin Monae West Performs 'Woman of Woe' From Upcoming Battle Rap Medea

Red Bull Theater and Bedlam are presenting Luis Quintero's Medea: Re-Versed beginning September 12.

Red Bull Theater and Bedlam are preparing to begin Off-Broadway performances of Medea: Re-Versed, a co-production with Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Previews for Luis Quintero's battle rap version of Euripides' ancient Greek play begin September 12 at Sheen Center's Frank Shiner Theatre ahead of a September 23 opening night, with performances continuing through October 13. Nathan Winkelstein co-conceived the project and is directing.

Get a first look at the show in the video above, featuring Sarin Monae West leading the entire company in "Woman of Woe" while rehearsing the piece at Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.

West is starring in the title role, sharing the stage with Siena D'Addario (The Seagull), Melissa Mahoney (Measure for Measure), Mark Martin (Voca People), Jacob Ming-Trent (How Shakespeare Saved My Life), Quintero (Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play), and Stephen Michael Spencer (Clyde's).

The creative team includes scenic designer Emmie Finckel, costume designer Nicole Wee, lighting designer Cha See, sound designer Matt Otto, and music director Mark Martin.
