Off-Broadway News Medea: Re-Versed Extends Off-Broadway Run

Red Bull Theater and Bedlam are presenting Luis Quintero's rap battle take on the Greek tragedy.

Red Bull Theater and Bedlam's Medea Re-Versed has extended its Off-Broadway run, a co-production with Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.

Previews for Luis Quintero's battle rap version of Euripides' ancient Greek play began September 12 at Sheen Center's Frank Shiner Theatre ahead of a September 23 opening night, and performances will now continue through October 20. Nathan Winkelstein co-conceived the project and is directing.

Sarin Monae West is starring in the title role, sharing the stage with Siena D'Addario (The Seagull), Melissa Mahoney (Measure for Measure), Mark Martin (Voca People), Jacob Ming-Trent (How Shakespeare Saved My Life), Quintero (Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play), and Stephen Michael Spencer (Clyde's).

The creative team includes scenic designer Emmie Finckel, costume designer Nicole Wee, lighting designer Cha See, sound designer Matt Otto, and music director Mark Martin.
