With a book and lyrics by two-time Tony nominee Peter Kellogg (Anna Karenina, Desperate Measures) and music by two-time Richard Rodgers Award winner Stephen Weiner, Monte Cristo centers on a wrongfully imprisoned man, who returns richer, wiser, and bent on vengeance. But as his carefully orchestrated plan unfolds, he must face the ultimate question: Is justice enough without love?
The Off-Broadway musical will also have music direction and orchestrations by David Hancock Turner, choreography by Marcos Santana, scenic design by Anne Mundell, costume design by Siena Zoë Allen and Amanda Roberge, sound design by Joanna Lynne Staub, and lighting design by Alan E. Edwards. Casting is by Andrea Zee of Zee-Casting.
Developed in The York’s New2NY series, this production reunites the writer of Desperate Measures and the Penelope team.
