A revival of John Millington Synge’s The Playboy of the Western World will play London's National Theatre beginning December 4.
Watch a new trailer for the production, which will continue in the Lyttelton through February 28, 2026, in the video above. Opening night for the Irish classic about youth and self-discovery is set for December 11.

Abbey Theatre Artistic Director Caitríona McLaughlin will direct a cast that includes Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton), Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment), Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls), Megan Cusack, Lorcan Cranitch, and Marty Rea.
The production will also have set and costume design by Katie Davenport, lighting design by James Farncombe, movement direction by Sue Mythen, sound design by Adrienne Quartly, music by composer Anna Mullarkey, and casting by Alastair Coomer and Naomi Downham.
The three-act The Playboy of the Western World was first performed in 1907 at Dublin's Abbey Theatre.
