Video Video: Watch Arinea Hermans Channel Billy Flynn in a Gender-Bent Chicago

The YES Theatre production in Ontario is putting a new spin on the Kander and Ebb classic.

YES Theatre's gender-bending production of Chicago began performances July 9 at the Sudbury Theatre Centre in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. The limited engagement will continue through August 24.

Several roles in the hit musical are being played by actors whose gender presentation is different than those who have historically played the role. Watch Arinea Hermans sing "We Both Reached For The Gun" as Billy Flynn in the video above.

YES Theatre Artistic Director Alessandro Costantini directs the production. The creative team also includes choreographer Janie Pinard, music director Stephan Ermel, lighting designer Frank Donato, set designers Mike Natti and Diandra Zafiris, costume designer Laura Delchiaro, and sound designer Aaron Hanna.

With a book by the late Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Ebb, Chicago has been seen by more than 34 million people and played over 33,500 performances worldwide in 38 countries and in more than 525 cities since its debut in 1996. It is now the second-longest running show in Broadway history (after the recently closed The Phantom of the Opera).
