The cast of the Broadway revival discuss putting their own spin on the creatures of the night.

When Andrew Durand was 17 years old, he was in a community theatre production of The Rocky Horror Show at OnStage Atlanta. He played the heartthrob Rocky: "I wore a gold thong onstage, and someone came up to me and said, 'If anybody asks, you're 18,'" he recalls.

The Tony nominee will be stripping down again for the Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show at Studio 54, this time in the role of Brad. But though Durand is a Rocky expert, his costar Stephanie Hsu (who plays Janet) had never seen the musical or The Rocky Horror Picture Show. "I was a virgin until the night that [director] Sam Pinkleton called," says the Oscar nominee. There's a benefit, though, to not having the voice of Susan Sarandon in her head, says Hsu: "I get to bring my own freak."

In the video above, the show's "creatures of the night" discuss the revival of Richard O'Brien's iconic musical with Playbill's Jeffrey Vizcaíno and why audiences can expect "the best version [of The Rocky Horror Show] you've ever seen with the best cast you've ever seen."

For Luke Evans, who plays Frank-N-Furter in this revival and who sang a song from the musical in college (while in drag), he's not feeling pressured to live up to Tim Curry. "I've played really famous characters before," he notes, such as Gaston in the Beauty and the Beast musical film and Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit. "We had The Hobbit fans. I was very aware that they may hate my character or they may love my character. But in the end, you just have to own it. Frank is mine from now until I leave the show, whenever that may be."
