London's now-Olivier-winning revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods, currently at the Bridge Theatre, will transfer to the Noël Coward Theatre in the West End beginning September 22. Opening night will be October 7, with the run continuing through January 9, 2027.

The current staging, directed by Jordan Fein, is scheduled to take its final bow in a multi-extended run at the Bridge May 30. The revival went into the April 12 Olivier Awards tied with Paddington The Musical as the most nominated production of the evening, ultimately winning both Best Musical Revival and Lighting Design (for Aideen Malone and video designer Roland Horvath).

West End favorite Kate Fleetwood will reprise her performance as The Witch in the transfer, with further casting to be announced.

“Sondheim and Lapine’s Into the Woods is, quite simply, a masterpiece, and Jordan and Tom [Scutt]’s production is the perfect imaging of this very singular piece," says producer Jamie Wilson in a statement. "I’m honored to be partnering with the Bridge Theatre to bring the production to the West End, enabling a wider audience to experience their genius close up in the intimacy of the Noël Coward Theatre.”

“It’s been both a privilege and a joy to direct this new production of Into the Woods at the Bridge Theatre. To now bring this wonderful show into the West End is thrilling and will give new audiences the opportunity to experience the brilliant music and words of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine," adds Fein.

Fleetwood is scheduled to take her final bow in the Bridge Theatre run April 18, alongside fellow departing original company members Katie Brayben as the Baker's Wife, Michael Gould as the Narrator and Mysterious Man, and Jamie Parker as the Baker. They will be succeeded beginning April 20 by Melanie La Barrie (Hadestown, & Juliet) as The Witch, Rachel Tucker (Wicked) as the Baker's Wife, John Owen-Jones (Les Misérables) as the Narrator and Mysterious Man, and Hughie O'Donnell (King Lear) as the Baker. Casting is by Stuart Burt.

Featuring a Tony-winning score by Sondheim and a Tony-winning book by Lapine, Into the Woods blends together the Grimm's Fairy Tales Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and more. The title has become one of the most beloved in Sondheim's catalogue since it premiered on Broadway in 1988, and a mainstay at professional theatres and schools and amateur companies alike. This new revival is the show's first major London staging since 2016.

The production features scenic and costume design by Scutt (Cabaret), music supervision and music direction by Mark Aspinall, sound design by Adam Fisher, lighting design by Aideen Malone, video design by Roland Horvath, movement direction by Jenny Ogilvie, wig, hair, and make-up design by Sam Cox, and puppetry design by Cheryl "Chuck" Brown, Max Humphries, and Scutt.

The creative team also includes production manager Chris Hay; props supervisors Jonathan Hall and Chris Marcus; associate director Georgia Green; associate musical director Alex Beetschen; associate sound designer Ollie Durrant; associate lighting designer Lucy Adams; associate set designer David Allen; associate costume designer Lucy Martin; assistant costume supervisor Lydia McDonald; wigs, hair, and make-up supervisor Charlie Watson; costume associate Dan Campton; and orchestra managers Andy Barnwell and Richard Weeden for BW Musicians.
