Alex Edelman received a 2024 Special Tony Award for his debut Broadway solo show Just For Us, which played the Hudson Theatre last year, and he's still a bit in disbelief. Watch Edelman react to his award in the video above, in an interview with Playbill's Jeffrey Vizcaíno.
"[I feel] blown away, gobsmacked, really pleased...I've never even dared to dream of this, so to be able to have this opportunity it's just really special," Edelman says. "I'm a little bit in disbelief, I think it's a big mistake actually, but now that I have the Tony....What are they going to do, take it away from me? They can't. Let them try, I'll be in Times Square at midnight if anyone wants to try."
Just For Us explored how Edelman's personal experiences with anti-Semitic abuse online led him to crash a gathering of White Nationalists incognito in New York City. Edelman shared what happened—and raised the larger questions the experience forced him to ask—alongside other stories from his life. The production is currently available to stream on Max.
