And the Winners Are...Marla Louissaint representing New York City-based The Gershwin Awards and Anthony Skillman, representing the Los Angeles-based M.A.C.Y. Awards were chosen as Best Actress and Best Actor in the 2015 National High School Musical Theatre Awards (Jimmy Awards) June 29 at the Minskoff Theatre in New York.
June 30, 2015
The seventh annual Jimmy Awards ceremony was hosted by two-time Tony-winner Michael Cerveris who stepped in at the 11th hour for ailing Sutton Foster.
The Jimmy Awards are named in honor of James M. Nederlander-the Broadway theatre owner and producer. His son, James L. Nederlander, current Chairman of The Nederlander Organization, presented both winners with checks for $10,000 apiece to further their education. They will be eligible for a four-year merit and a need-based scholarship to attend the New Studio on Broadway, NYU Tisch School of the Arts Department of Drama, contingent upon acceptance into the program.
