The Keen Company revival of the late Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical Tick, Tick...BOOM! officially opens October 20 at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row. The production, which transferred to a larger theatre Off-Broadway due to high ticket demand, stars George Salazar, Ciara Renée, and Nick Blaemire.
The revival is helmed by Keen Company artistic director Jonathan Silverstein with music direction by Joey Chancey. David Auburn serves as script consultant on the production, and Christine O’ Grady choreographs. Preview performances began October 4.
Written before his groundbreaking musical Rent, Larson’s Tick, Tick...BOOM! is described as “the story of an aspiring composer questioning his life choices on the eve of his thirtieth birthday. His girlfriend wants to get married and move out of the city, his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue, but Jon is still waiting on tables and trying to write the great American musical. This exhilarating, funny, and moving work by the late Larson will speak to anyone who’s ever gotten lost on their way to finding their dreams.”
The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row is located at 410 West 42nd Street, New York. For tickets call (212) 239-6200 or visit Telecharge.com or keencompany.org.
