This year's NextGen Spotlight concert raised a record $22,333 in donations for Broadway Cares. The annual event showcases the next generation of Broadway with performances by up-and-coming stars, alongside theatre veterans and mentors.
On the heels of her Tony-nominated Broadway debut in BOOP! The Musical, Jasmine Amy Rogers hosting the evening, which included performances by Charlotte D’Amboise, Tshidi Manyem, Caroline Bowman, Josh Dela Cruz, Tatianna Córdoba, David Merino, Phil Colgan, Ravyn Calderon, Lili Froehlich, Andre Malcolm, Johanna Moise and Julian Ramos, Tabitha Lawing, Katerina Papacostas, and Joey Sorge.
The event also offered sneak peeks of original works currently in development, including Starting Up: The Musical by Troy and Garett Press, and the rock opera Blood/Love by Carey Sharpe
This year's NextGen Spotlight was directed by Jelani Remy (Back to the Future: The Musical), with music direction by Jeremiah Ginn. The band featured Britton Matthews on drums and Sean Murphy on bass.
Broadway Cares is one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations.
