The Trevor Project, the organization focused on ending suicide among LGBTQ Youth, has tapped Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth and filmmaker-designer Tom Ford to be honored at its December 3 gala, TrevorLIVE in Los Angeles, California.
Chenoweth will accept the organization’s Icon Award; Ford will get the Hero Award. The event will be held at the Beverly Hilton. Tickets, which cost $500 to $1000, can be ordered here.
Among other services, The Trevor Project operates a hotline for young people experiencing suicidal thoughts, at 1-866-488-7386.
Despite the seriousness of The Trevor Project’s mission, organizers are promising "an irreverent evening of music and comedy."
The Trevor Project CEO and executive director Amit Paley called Chenoweth and Ford “true role models for LGBTQ young people and allies.” He said, “Kristin has consistently and unequivocally voiced her support of LGBTQ equality and is a longtime supporter of The Trevor Project. The awareness and support Tom and Kristin bring to The Trevor Project's programs will help us save even more LGBTQ young lives.”
Chenoweth, whose Broadway roles include the original Glinda in Wicked, and who currently co-stars on TV’s American Gods, said, “I can't believe I’m sharing company with the great artist Tom Ford. We both have similar beliefs and come from a place that loves everybody. I've tried to show it to the world through my music, and Mr. Ford certainly does it through his designs and filmmaking. I can't wait to share such a special evening.”
