Licensing rights for West End and Broadway play The Shark Is Broken have been acquired by Broadway Licensing Global.
Written by Ian Shaw (son of Jaws cast member and The Shark Is Broken character Robert Shaw) and Joseph Nixon, the work takes audiences behind the scenes of one of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters as its three stars try to cope with foul weather, a temperamental mechanical shark, and each other's egos.
The play premiered at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019, later playing London's West End and, in 2023, Broadway.
"The Shark Is Broken is an equal-parts hilarious and moving story about the making of one of the most celebrated films of all time,” says BLG Interim Chief Executive Officer Ted Chapin in a statement. "Moreover, the fact that the play was co-written by Ian adds an authenticity to the tale which makes it all the more remarkable."
