Tony-winning Best Musical The Outsiders has found the full cast for its upcoming North American national tour, set to officially launch from Tulsa, Oklahoma's Tulsa PAC beginning October 7, following try-out stops at Shea's Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, New York (September 17-23) and the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, Nebraska (September 28-October 4). As previously announced, Nolan White will lead the company as Ponyboy Curtis, with Bonale Fambrini as Johnny Cade, Tyler Jordan Wesley as Dallas Winston, Travis Roy Rogers as Darrel Curtis, Corbin Drew Ross as Sodapop Curtis, Emma Hearn as Cherry Valance, Jaydon Ngetas as Two-Bit, Mark Doyle as Bob, and Jackson Reagin as Paul. Jordan DeAndre Williams will star as Ponyboy at certain performances.
Newly revealed is the tour's ensemble, including Seth Ajani, Christian Arredondo, Brandon Borkowsky, Dante D’Antonio, Gina Gagliano, Hannah Jennens, Giuseppe Little, Sebastian Martinez, Justice Moore, Mekhi Payne, John Michael Peterson, Katie Riedel, Luke Sabracos, Johnathan Tanner, and Alyssa Villareal. Casting is by The TRC Company's Xavier Rubiano.
The musical opened April 11, 2024, at Broadway's Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, where it continues today. The Outsiders is adapted from S.E. Hinton's novel and Francis Ford Coppola's film adaptation. Set in 1967 Tulsa, Oklahoma, the musical follows Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade, and their chosen family of "outsiders," who are in a fight for survival and a quest for purpose in a world that may never accept them. The musical features a book by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine and music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival and Levine.
The work won the Best Musical Tony Award as well as Best Direction of a Musical (Danya Taymor), Lighting Design (Brian MacDevitt and Hana S. Kim), and Sound Design (Cody Spencer) at the 2024 Tony Awards.
As on Broadway, the tour will feature music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Levine; choreography by Rick Kuperman and Jeff Kuperman; scenography by AMP featuring Tatiana Kahvegian; costume design by Sarafina Bush; lighting design by MacDevitt; sound design by Spencer; projection design by Hana S. Kim, special effects design by Jeremy Chernick and Lillis Meeh, hair and wig design by Alberto "Albee" Alvarado, makeup design by Tishonna Ferguson, and music supervision and additional orchestrations by Matt Hinkley. Remy Kurs will music direct. Beverly Jenkins will provide production supervision, with Edmond O'Neal serving as production stage manager. Taylor Bense is the special effects specialist, and Jack Viertel is creative consultant.
