The National Theatre and Neal Street Productions' Tony-winning production of The Lehman Trilogy returns to London’s West End September 24.

The production, most recently seen in San Francisco, plays the Gillian Lynne Theatre through January 5, 2025.

Written by Stefano Massini, adapted by Ben Power, and directed by Sam Mendes, the cast again features John Heffernan, Aaron Krohn, and Howard W. Overshown as the Lehman brothers, their sons, and grandsons. Cat Beveridge and Anyssa Neumann reprise their respective performances as principal pianist and alternate pianist.

Understudies include Valentine Hanson, Leighton Pugh, and Simon Victor, who also performs the role of the Janitor. Ali Berry completes the company as the pianist understudy.

The production also has set design by Es Devlin, costume design by Katrina Lindsay, video design by Luke Halls, lighting design by Jon Clark, music and sound design by Nick Powell, co-sound design by Dominic Bilkey, music direction by Candida Caldicot, movement direction by Polly Bennett, and West End direction by Rory McGregor. Company voice work is by Charmian Hoare with U.K. casting by Naomi Downham and U.S. casting by Jim Carnahan.

The Lehman Trilogy charts the humble beginnings, outrageous successes, and devastating failure of the financial institution that would ultimately bring the global economy to its knees.

Mendes' production received five 2022 Tony Awards: Best Play, Best Director, Best Set Design, Best Lighting Design, and Best Actor. It also won the Drama League Award for Best Play and six Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Play.

First commissioned by Neal Street Productions and developed and co-produced with the National Theatre at the Lyttelton in 2018, The Lehman Trilogy then played a sold-out run at the Park Avenue Armory in spring 2019. The production returned to London for a 16-week sold-out run at the Piccadilly Theatre. Following the Broadway shutdown, The Lehman Trilogy was the first British play to return to Broadway—where it had previously played four performances in March 2020—for a limited engagement at the Nederlander Theatre from September 2021 until January 2022.
