Sarah Steele, who stars in the Tony Award-winning family drama The Humans, has joined the cast of CBS’ The Good Wife spinoff series, according to Deadline.com.
Steele, who recurred as Marissa Gold on The Good Wife, will co-star opposite Tony winner Christine Baranski (The Real Thing, Rumors) and Cush Jumbo (The River) in the spinoff.
According to Deadline, the spinoff—co-created and executive-produced by Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King—will pick up one year after the events of the final episode of The Good Wife and will center around an enormous financial scam. Steele will reprise her role as Eli Gold’s (Alan Cumming) daughter.
The ten-episode spinoff will premiere in February on CBS before its episodes are released on CBS’ SVOD and live streaming platform All Access. The Good Wife spinoff is also executive-produced by Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer and Brooke Kennedy.
Original negotiations for Steele to join the cast were complicated by her limited availability, due to The Humans’ extension through January 15. However, they were resolved, and Steele will remain in the Broadway drama while shooting The Good Wife spinoff.
