Presented by new theatre company 95 WordsPerMinute, The Best of Everything is adapted and directed by Julie Kramer (Off-Broadway's Mother Load) and developed with actor and writer Amy Wilson (The Last Night of Ballyhoo). The limited engagement continues through Oct. 21.
The cast features Jordan Geiger, Sas Goldberg (Stunning at LCT3), Molly Lloyd, Tom O'Keefe (Theatre Bedlam's Saint Joan), Alicia Sable (Gypsy with Patti LuPone), Hayley Treider (Double Falsehood at CSC), Amy Wilson and Sarah Wilson.
Set in the pre-women's liberation era, The Best of Everything, according to 95 WordsPerMinute, "tells the story of five young and impressionable secretaries. New to the big city, they dodge the garter-snappers at Fabian Publishing while seeking thrilling careers, gay adventures and a nice boy to take them out to dinner."
Other members of the creative team include set designer Lauren Helpern, lighting designer Graham Kindred, costume designer Daniel Urlie, sound designer Jill BC Du Boff and production stage manager Katharine Whitney. Leah Michalos is the production's general manager, and Holly Rosen Fink is associate producer.
The play was developed in readings at The Directors Company and workshopped as part of the "New Georges Spring Development" series. The Best of Everything, a part of HEREstay — HERE's curated rental program — is produced with the permission of The Rona Jaffe Foundation. Jaffe's other novels include "The Road Taken," "The Cousins," "Family Secrets," "Mr. Right is Dead," "Mazes and Monsters," "The Last Chance," "Five Women," "Class Reunion" and "The Room-Mating Season." Her novel "The Best of Everything" was the basis for the 1959 movie starring Joan Crawford.
