Taron Egerton has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be performing in the West End revival of Mike Bartlett's play Cock for the remainder of the week. Producers expect him to return the week of the 28th.

The news was confirmed via social media March 23. The message posted on the official Instagram account read, "Taron Egerton has unfortunately tested positive for COVID. In accordance with the production’s health and safety protocols, he will now isolate and we expect Taron to return to the show next week." 

They confirmed that his character, M, will be played by Egerton's understudy Joel Harper-Jackson.

This marks the second health incident Egerton has faced since the show began previews March 5. The Golden Globe winner fainted towards the end of the production's first preview and was treated by a medical professional in the audience. While the performer was "absolutely fine", Harper-Jackson still stepped in to finish off the performance.

Egerton stars in the revival alongside Olivier winner Jonathan Bailey. Cock opened March 15 for a 12-week run scheduled to conclude June 4 at the Ambassador's Theatre. Directed by Company's Marianne Elliott, the play follows a gay-identifying man who's in a long-term relationship with his boyfriend but finds himself questioning his sexuality after falling in love with a woman.
