For the first time since the COVID-19 shutdown, The 24 Hour Plays On Broadway made a live, in-person return at Town Hall November 21. The 22nd annual event saw actors, writers, directors, and production staff staging six never-before-seen new works, devised from scratch in 24 hours.
Proceeds benefit The 24 Hour Plays' year-round activities, which include education initiatives with students in middle school to college, professional development for emerging artists, and more.
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
The play comes on the heels of a broader cultural conversation about Dahl's work and the prejudice that was embedded in many of his most beloved stories.
