The Olivier Award-winning Stomp is set to end its 15-year run in London’s West End January 7, 2018, producers announced. The show first played the Vaudeville Theatre in 2002 before transferring to the Ambassadors Theatre for a record-breaking ten years.

Though Stomp is wrapping up its West End run, creators Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas have said they hope the show will continue to have a life in London.

“We want to emphasize that we don’t consider this the end of Stomp here,” the duo said in a press statement. “We actually feel it’s going to be good for the show to take a break, reconfigure, reinvent and return at some point in the future in a different London venue, where we can present the show in a way that is more in keeping with its original ethos.”

Stomp was first performed in 1991 in Edinburgh. In 1994, the production played London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre, where it won the Olivier Award for Best Choreography, and opened in New York City that same year.

Stomp, a musical that makes its music using matchboxes, garbage cans, brooms, and other riff-raff, continues to play at its original Off-Broadway home, the Orpheum Theatre in the East Village.

In 2018, the show is scheduled to tour internationally with dates already scheduled for Paris, Beirut, Prague, Lisbon, and Milan.
