The West End run of David Adjmi's 2024 Tony-winning Best Play Stereophonic has extended its run at the Duke of York's Theatre, where the run will now continue through November 22. The production opened June 12 (read the reviews here), and performances had been slated to end September 20.
The work follows an unnamed '70s rock band recording their sophomore album. It features original music by Will Butler, formerly of the band Arcade Fire. The play made history last year by earning 13 Tony Award nominations, the most of any play, ever. It went on to win five categories, including Best Play, Best Director (Daniel Aukin), Best Featured Actor (Will Brill), Best Scenic Design (David Zinn) and Best Sound Design (Ryan Rumery).
The London production stars Zachary Hart as Reg, Lucy Karczewski as Diana, Jack Riddiford as Peter, and Nia Towle as Holly. They join three original Broadway cast members who are reprising their roles from the Broadway production: Andrew R. Butler as Charlie, Eli Gelb as Grover, and Chris Stack as Simon. Understudies for the production include Sam Denia, Rima Georges, Lucy Gray, and Steve Shirley.
