Full casting has been revealed for the West End production of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, which will play the Theatre Royal Haymarket January 29-April 18, 2026. Rachel Joyce's new musical adapts her novel of the same title for the stage.

With music and lyrics from indie group Passenger (best known for their 2012 hit "Let Her Go) and direction by Katy Rudd, the musical follows a retired man who decides to walk hundreds of miles to visit his dying college roommate upon receiving a letter from her. On his journey, strangers turn into companions, kindness appears in unexpected places, and the road reveals more than Harold ever imagined, while back home, his wife Maureen begins her own journey, one that might bring them together again.

The production will star Mark Addy as Harold Fry, Jenna Russell as Maureen Fry, and Noah Mullins as The Balladeer. They will be joined onstage by Craig Armstrong, Jenna Boyd, Daniel Crossley, Nell Martin, Nicole Nyarambi, Peter Polycarpou, Gleanne Purcell-Brown, Ashley Samuels, Maggie Service, Madeleine Worrall, and Timo Tatzber. Swings Gemma Atkins, Olivia Foster-Browne, Ediz Mahmut, and Edwin Ray will round out the company.

Music supervisor (and additional music composer) Phil Bateman heads the music department. The orchestra will feature musical director Chris Poon on keys, Lewis Dunmore on guitar, Hsiao-Ling Huang on cello, Clodagh Kennedy on violin, Catrin Meek on harp, Mike Nichols on bass guitar, and Mike Parkin on drums and percussion. Arrangements, orchestrations, and additional music are by Jeremy Holland-Smith.

The production team features designer Samuel Wyer, choreographer Tom Jackson Greaves, lighting designer Paule Constable, sound designers Ian Dickinson and Gareth Tucker for Autograph, video designer Ash J Woodward, illusion artist Chris Fisher, casting director Anna Cooper, deputy musical director Caitlin Morgan, dramaturg Nick Sidi, associate directors Jamie Manton and Nicky Allpress, associate set and costume designer Joseph Bisat-Marshall, associate lighting designers Hector Murray and Teresa Nagel, assistant choreographers Nell Martin and Edwin Ray, dance captain Edwin Ray, production managemer Ammomite Studios, production consultant Ben Arkell, costume supervisors Laura Rushton, Lisa Aitken, and Sophie O’Connor, prop supervisor Lizzie Frankl for Propworks, and wig, hair, and makeup supervisor Melanie Bouvet.
