Songbook Sundays, the concert series created and hosted by Deborah Grace Winer to celebrate the American Songbook, will continue at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club August 3 at 5 PM and 7:30 PM.
Entitled Come Fly With Jimmy Van Heusen, the performances will celebrate the hit songwriter who made Sinatra swing. Joining host Winer will be Tony nominee Christine Andreas, jazz singer Gabrielle Stravelli, David Marino, and singer-pianist Billy Stritch, the latter as the evening’s music director.
The band will also include Mark McLean on drums, Caylen Bryant on bass, and Jarien Jaminila on saxophone. Attendees can expect to hear such Van Heusen hits as "Call Me Irresponsible," "Darn that Dream," "Here’s that Rainy Day," "Come Fly with Me," and more.
Songbook Sundays is currently in its fourth year, after premiering in spring 2022 with Got Gershwin. The series will celebrate Leonard Bernstein October 5.
