Mark Shanahan, who penned the new adaptation of the Christie novel, will direct the reading of the mystery, which will make its world premiere this summer at Houston's Alley Theatre.
The Westport reading will feature Tony winner Santino Fontana as Dr. James Sheppard, Arnie Burton as Hercule Poirot, Joe Delafield as Ralph Paton, Anissa Felix as Flora Ackroyd, Allen Gilmore as Roger Ackroyd, Richard R. Henry as Major Hector Blunt, Tom Hewitt as John Parker, Isabel Keating as Caroline Sheppard, Kristine Nielsen as Gertrude Ackroyd, John Rapson as Inspector Raglan, Sharone Sayegh as Ursula Bourne, and Anna Simone Scott as Helen Russel.
Stage directions for the play, set in 1926 England, will be read by Anne Keefe with stage management by Megan Smith.
“I’ve loved Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd since I first read it as a teenager, and adapting it for the stage has been a labor of love,” said Script in Hand curator Shanahan. “I’m overjoyed that we have assembled this truly remarkable and celebrated cast of Broadway veterans and Playhouse favorites for a night filled with mystery, laughter, and a few good thrills. It’s going to be a killer Script In Hand reading at the Playhouse!"
