Tracie Thomas, Tony Goldwyn, and more came out for Opening Act's 13th Annual Play Reading Gala, In Their Own Words, April 2. The event, directed by Kamilah Forbes, featured world premieres written by students and performed by film and television stars.

Opening Act is a nonprofit organization which brings free afterschool theatre programming to underserved New York City public high schools.
