The rock band Junior Fudge will back up the Rude Mechnicals' upcoming mounting of Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale. The members of Junior Fudge have set to music two lyrics written by Shakespeare for the play and have also composed a score for other expositional passages. The production, directed by Ryan Rillette, will play Off-Off-Broadway's Walker Space, Feb. 3-27.
One of the later, "problem" plays of Shakespeare, Winter's Tale tells of Leontes, king of Sicily, who, in a jealous rage, accuses his wife of adultery and banishes his daughter.
Chris Edwards and Matt Lawler star. Also in the production are Anna Belknap, Scott Bowman, Cindy Cheung, Andrea Harris, Joshua Hartman, Kamau Hashim, Omar Metwally, Raphael Peacock, Roxanne Raja, Eric Siegel and Dennis Trainor, Jr.
The Rude Mechanicals' recent productions have included Largo Desolato and (wish). The company will conclude its current season with Samuel Beckett's Endgame.
