The Rose and Crown Theatre (Grip Theatre) in England has announced a competition designed to bring new plays to the stage while helping to further develop talents of young playwrights. They are in search of unperformed, original plays by playwrights from the Boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth and Wimbledon. A single winner of this competition will get the opportunity to be a resident writer of the Rose and Crown with the possibility of a full production later on in 1997. Runners-up will be awarded a professionally rehearsed workshopped reading.

Plays should be full length and applicants must take into consideration that it will have to be performed in a pub theatre space with a pub theatre budget. Submissions must be sent by November 30, 1996 to: .
