A new musical version of 101 Dalmatians, reimagined from the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production in 2022, will embark on a U.K. tour next year.
Performances will begin June 22, 2024, at the New Wimbledon Theatre, where the musical will continue through June 29. The production will subsequently visit Birmingham, Norwich, Canterbury, Leicester, Manchester, Belfast, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Southend, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Woking, Cardiff, Southampton, Aberdeen, York, Glasgow, and Edinburgh with further dates to be announced.
Based on a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris, the musical features a score by Tony winner Douglas Hodge and a book by Johnny McKnight. Casting and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.
The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of 101 Dalmatians starred Olivier and Tony nominee Kate Fleetwood as Cruella de Vil. Timothy Sheader directed with choreography and movement direction by Liam Steel and musical supervision and orchestrations by Sarah Travis. Read the reviews here.
This new adaptation is separate from both Disney's 1961 animated film and an earlier musical adaptation by BT McNicholl and Dennis DeYoung that toured the U.S. in 2009 starring Rachel York as Cruella.
